About Us
House of Help was a vision given to Pastor Ray and Toni Anderson. With direction from the Lord, they followed in obedience and became full time missionaries in the city of Detroit. They began to walk the streets of the neighborhood and pray for the people in the community, and on Dec 3, 2009, they received the keys to the former Abner Larned Elementary School. Located in the center of the community, House of Help directly serves the area between Telegraph and Berg Rd. and Grand River and Seven Mile. House of Help is a support-based Christ-centered ministry committed to transforming lives in Detroit by providing services that meet practical needs in order to meet spiritual needs and develop strong families. (Isaiah 58:6-7,10 demonstrated in Acts 2:42-47)

House of Help has a tutoring program (TAG), summer day camp, a food distribution program (Daily Bread), a program which we work with a national foundation to help keep lights and heat on for those around the city in need (THAW), a house of prayer (DHOP), a clothing closet (Isaiah's Closet), and a housing renovation program (which is a partnership with another ministry). In the first year that House of Help existed in the neighborhood, the Police Precinct reported that the crime rate had decreased by 20%!

Our Story
Pastors Ray and Toni Anderson are licensed ministers and certified chaplains who founded
the House of Help Community Center, opening itʼs doors in December 2009.
Within a matter of days after opening HOH drew over 200 people, mostly youth in search of
after-school and social activities.

The center has been a huge success and has grown to host after school programs,
a food distribution program, health and fitness programs, a ministry to provide house hold items and clothing to individuals and families, as well as a growing church body.

In October of 2011 Lou Engle and a team of intercessors came to House of Help to fast and pray for the city of Detroit in anticipation of the event, “The Call-Detroit.”
It was out of this 40 days of fasting and prayer that the Detroit House of Prayer was born.
We exist to raise up a house of prayer in Detroit, to contend with every other house that challenges the Lordship and supremacy of Christ over all affairs.
